Abstract
Instruments to support internationalisation occupy an important place in the EU budget and in the national
programmes for 2021-2027. The changes taking place in the environment of the Union and its Member States
strongly affect this area of support for economic actors in the EU, shaping the volume of support, the rules for its
provision and the nature of the instruments themselves. The aim of the study is to present instruments to support the
internationalisation of EU businesses, including SMEs, under the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework,
discuss the challenges for these instruments and attempt to assess the effectiveness of EU action in this area
