Big push for Europe’s transport future: €1.1 billion now on the table
The European Commission has launched its final €1.1B funding call under the 2021–2027 budget to accelerate and modernise Europe’s transport infrastructure.
This investment will focus on:
-High-speed rail expansion — strengthening cross-border connectivity and faster mobility
-Decarbonising maritime transport — greener ports and cleaner shipping solutions
-Electrification of road haulage — supporting charging infrastructure and sustainable logistics
-Greener airport operations — cleaner ground handling systems
-Military mobility — addressing critical bottlenecks to improve Europe’s defence readiness
Digitalisation of transport networks — making infrastructure smarter, more resilient, and more interoperable
Notably, Ukraine and Moldova are included in this call, reflecting stronger integration into the EU transport ecosystem.
This is more than infrastructure funding—it’s a strategic investment in sustainability, competitiveness, resilience, and European connectivity.
