New measures announced aim to make Europe more attractive to skilled workers while also simplifying and improving legitimate travel:
🔹 Easier & more predictable travel
New digital procedures will streamline journeys for both visa-free and visa-required travellers. Trusted travellers will benefit from multiple-entry visas with longer validity, reducing administrative burden and increasing mobility.
🔹 Smarter, modern visa tools
By 2028, the EU plans to make its visa and border IT systems fully interoperable. This means authorities will be able to check multiple databases through a single, central search, strengthening information-sharing, improving efficiency, and preventing visa abuse.
Together, these measures strike a strong balance between openness, security, and competitiveness, reinforcing the EU’s position as a global hub for talent, innovation, and legitimate travel.
