Commission earmarks €4.6 billion to boost net-zero technologies, electric vehicle battery cell manufacturing and renewable hydrogen under the Innovation Fund
The European Commission has announced an allocation of €4.6 billion from the Innovation Fund to support emission-neutral technologies, battery cell production for electric vehicles, and renewable hydrogen. These initiatives aim to accelerate decarbonization and strengthen Europe's position as a leader in cutting-edge industrial technologies.
The funding includes €3.4 billion for decarbonization projects and €1.2 billion for renewable hydrogen production. Supported initiatives will focus on energy storage, heat pumps, and components for renewable energy production. Applications can be submitted until April 24, 2025 (batteries and technologies) and February 20, 2025 (hydrogen).
